NC Wildlife Resources Commission Announces Proposed Rule Changes, Public Hearings

The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (WRC) recently announced the 2023-2024 changes to hunting, trapping, game land, inland fishing, and other regulated activities. WRC is hosting a series of public hearings through January 2023 where they will receive comments. The National Deer Association (NDA) has submitted comments in support of several of the proposed changes.

Three in-person public hearings are scheduled for:

  • Jan. 10th, 2023 – Craven County Courthouse, District Courtroom #4, New Bern.
  • Jan. 12th, 2023 – Old Asheboro Courthouse, Asheboro
  • Jan. 17th, 2023 – McDowell Technical Community College, Cedar Building, Marion.

One virtual hearing is scheduled for:

A prerecorded presentation of the proposed regulation changes will be available on the agency’s YouTube channel prior to January 19th for anyone unable to attend the virtual hearing.

Public comments on the proposed changes will be accepted through January 30, 2023. Comments can be submitted either at the hearings, or via the agency’s online Comment Portal, email, or mail. Comments can be emailed to regulations@ncwildlife.org and should include the commenter’s name and mailing address. Physical comments can be mailed to: Rulemaking Coordinator, N.C.
