The NDA is proud to announce the hiring of Carl Petrick through a partnership with the natural resource management companies Southern Forestry Consultants, Wiregrass Ecological Associates, and Shea Wildlife & Environmental Services Inc. Petrick will support NDA stewardship agreements with the USDA Forest Service (USFS) as a per diem contractor, particularly in the USFS Northern Region, which encompasses 12 National Forests spread across northern Idaho, Montana, and northeastern Washington and four National Grasslands.
Petrick has spent nearly 40 years in federal land management, beginning his federal career in 1985 at Tyndall Air Force Base as a wildlife technician/biologist and enforcement officer. From there, he worked as the chief of fish and wildlife management at Eglin Air Force Base until 2003. Carl’s Forest Service career began in 2003 as the natural resources staff officer for the National Forests in Florida. While with the USFS he served as the Forest Supervisor for the Idaho Panhandle National Forest, the National Forests in Alabama, and the National Forests in Mississippi. Petrick retired from the USFS in 2023.
“I’m honored to be living and working in such a beautiful part of the country and I’m excited to be helping the NDA, partners, tribes and agencies continue providing outstanding natural resources stewardship and public service,” Petrick said.
Carl will help facilitate a wide range of forestry/habitat improvement and access projects under NDA’s Public Lands Initiative, including project development and providing capacity for the NDA’s national agreement strategy of increasing efficiency around USFS stewardship projects across the country.
An avid outdoorsman, Petrick enjoys hunting and fishing, as well as physical fitness and college football. He received a bachelor’s degree in wildlife management from Auburn University. Petrick is married to his wife Kim, and has three sons: Kyle, Eric, and Alex.
