The National Deer Association (NDA) is pleased to announce the addition of three exceptional interns to its team for the spring season. Mason Vliet, Casey Rotenberger, and Keaton Wright-Chapman will work alongside NDA staff to support the organization’s conservation and advocacy efforts through the first half of 2025. With a diverse set of skills and backgrounds, these interns are set to make valuable contributions to NDA’s mission of ensuring the future of wild deer, wildlife habitat, and hunting.
Vliet is a lifelong hunter and conservationist with a background in policy analysis and environmental research. His experience includes working with organizations like the American Council on Renewable Energy and the North American Electric Reliability Corporation. Vliet has also volunteered with the Maryland-National Capital Park Planning Deer Management Program, contributing over 200 hours to public land conservation. Vliet will serve as a Policy Fellow under NDA’s Director of Policy, Catherine Appling-Pooler.
A recent graduate of Delaware Valley University with a degree in Environmental Science, Rotenberger is passionate about habitat management and land stewardship. With hands-on experience as a Habitat Management Intern for the Pennsylvania Game Commission and current work as a Park Ranger in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, Rotenberger has developed a strong foundation in conservation practices. She is also pursuing a Ducks Unlimited Ecology Conservation and Management Certification. Rotenberger will serve as a Policy Intern under Appling-Pooler.
Based in Vermont, Wright-Chapman has been actively managing his family’s 400-acre property of land in partnership with the Vermont Land Trust to improve forest and deer habitat. Currently a Wildlife and Forest Conservation major at Vermont State University, Keaton will work in NDA’s Conservation Department under Senior Director of Conservation, Matt Ross.
“I’m excited to work with our new interns and policy fellow,” said Kip Adams, NDA’s Chief Conservation Officer. “They’ll help immensely on numerous conservation projects and advocacy issues during the next six months.”
Vliet, Rotenberger, and Wright-Chapman will serve as interns at NDA through June 30, 2025. The NDA will continue to offer internship opportunities in six-month rotations, with future openings posted on the NDA Employment Page.
