The National Deer Association (NDA) is excited to welcome Reagan Mills as the newest intern on our Conservation team for the second half of 2025. Reagan will support NDA staff through December 31, contributing to our research, education, and conservation efforts. She brings a strong combination of field experience, academic knowledge, and a personal passion for white-tailed deer conservation.
Mills, a Georgia native, is currently finishing her Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Ecology and Management at Auburn University, where she’s set to graduate in August 2025. Her interest in conservation was shaped early through deer hunting and land stewardship in her home state—an experience that inspired her to pursue a professional career focused on game species and sustainable wildlife practices.
She has developed hands-on skills through her coursework and a summer practicum at Auburn’s Solon Dixon Forestry Education Center, where she was trained in prescribed fire, habitat assessment, and plant ecology. Her background also includes outdoor education, customer service, and social media management through her leadership role in the Auburn Bass Fishing Club.
Reagan will work under the supervision of NDA’s Senior Conservation Coordinator Ben Westfall, and will assist with research development, educational material creation, and support for NDA’s certification programs.
“I am thrilled to be working with Reagan for the next six months,” said Westfall. “It’s exciting to see the continued enthusiasm from the next generation of aspiring biologists, and her skills will help tremendously with our numerous conservation projects and outreach initiatives during her internship.”
Future internship opportunities with NDA are offered in six-month rotations and posted on the Employment Page.
