Planned Giving The Signpost Legacy Society

The Signpost Legacy Society, named in honor of the original magazine of our organization includes a select group of National Deer Association supporters and friends who have chosen to leave a lasting legacy to our organization. Ensuring our future rests with those who invest in our mission. Planned giving is a way to leave a lasting legacy of support for our organization. There are many vehicles to make a planned gift, all of which provide their own opportunities and advantages for your and NDA.

Bequests

A charitable gift from your estate is a flexible way to give NDA. Your assets remain in your control throughout your lifetime and your designation can be changed at any time. You get to determine what works best for you and your situation. You can choose to leave a dollar amount or a percentage of the residual. In order to prepare a will or make an amendment consult your attorney.

Retirement Assets

A simple and common way to donate your retirement plan assets is to make NDA a beneficiary of your IRA, 401k or other retirement plan. All you need to do is change your beneficiary designation with your plan administrator to designate NDA as a beneficiary and name the percentage that you want us to receive. The assets that are designated to NDA will avoid all income tax and estate tax.

Life Insurance

You can transfer ownership of a paid-up life insurance policy to NDA. We can then opt to cash it in or hold onto it. This is beneficial for those who want to make a gift using an asset that they no longer need. You will receive an income tax deduction equal to the cash surrender value of the policy. You will need to contact your life insurance company and request a change of beneficiary/ownership form.

Real Estate Gifts

Gifts of land and real estate is a great way to help promote deer quality for the posterity of our hunting heritage. Every donation of commercial or residential real estate provides additional value to white-tailed deer. A deer camp, vacation home, family farm or commercial tract donation can meet both your present and future financial situation. You may receive substantial tax benefits and help facilitate your estate planning.

Gun Collections

It’s common for lifelong hunters to build an impressive firearms collection over their lifetime only to have nobody to hand them down to when they decide the time is right. NDA accepts firearm collection donations if you find yourself in that situation and would like to make sure your hunting and shooting legacy is helping support the future of deer, hunting, and habitat.
